Academic and industrial experience come together to create a pioneering high-tech project.
The Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA USI-SUPSI), particularly active in sectors such as machine learning and operational research, and Delvitech SA, kick off a partnership of technological innovation. The goal is to create solutions based on artificial intelligence for the AOI field.
The collaboration with IDSIA, the institute headed by the Department of Innovative Technologies of SUPSI, stems from the promise of the Ticino-based company, which operates in the market for automatic optical inspection systems, to offer increasingly innovative quality inspection and programming standards to electronic industries.
The main difference compared to the most popular current control systems will be made by the introduction of software that will offer algorithmic solutions based on artificial intelligence for image analysis, with detectability and false call results close to zero.
The partnership with IDSIA, specialized in artificial intelligence studies and applications, will therefore allow Delvitech to resolve the critical points of the automatic optical inspection sector linked to the use of obsolete technologies.
In this regard, the company’s executive board member, Dr. Paolo Orsatti comments: “The control systems currently used are seeing the end of their lifecycle: Delvitech wants to be the company able to provide the solution to the problem. The collaboration with the Dalle Molle Institute of studies on artificial intelligence USI-SUPSI gives us the opportunity to apply the scientific and technological skills of the institute to a concrete project, which once realized will represent a real revolution for the reference market.”
