Mechanical Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION
This role is based at our headquarters in Mendrisio. The ideal candidate will bring a patient, organized, and problem-solving approach to their work and must have prior experience in a similar field.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Mechanical design and develop of industrial machines, including:
- Design mounting for high performance linear motor stages,
- Design leading-edge precise mechanical assemblies, to reduce cost and time of assembly
- Design industrial machine structures and enclosures,
- Design custom parts to package optics and electronics into compact spaces,
- Design opto-mechanical mounts to provide precise alignment, adjustment, and robustness.
- Handle design products from concept to production.
- Identification of risk and reduction through feasibility prototypes, analysis, and testing.
- Collaborate with the assembly workshop on design to make production quick and easy.
- Collaborate closely with our interdisciplinary team (electronics and software) to contribute to the development of cutting-edge products and solutions.
- Collaborate with old and new supply partners for the manufacturing of parts.
- Create 2D drawings and design documents (e.g., ECR, ECO) for consultation with supply partners and assembly production.
- Coordinate the assembly and testing of prototypes.
- Coordinate transition of new designs from draft to production and support existing production.
REQUIREMENTS
- Master or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience in designing precise mechanical assemblies for linear motion.
- Experience in designing precision mechanical assemblies for Cartesian machines
- Experience in designing custom machined and fabricated parts.
- Experience in designing opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies is a plus.
- Experience in a structured development process from the definition of requirements to concept design, to detail design, to testing, and implementation into production.
- Proficient in mechanical 3D CAD (Solidworks is preferred) and exposure to CAD data management(Solidworks PDM is preferred).
- Proficient in 2D drawings and technical datasheet for manufacturing.
- Proficient in spoken and written English.
- Knowledge in design for production in series.
- Knowledge in structural analysis and heat transfer analysis (vibration analysis is preferred).
- Knowledge in manufacturing processes such as CNC, sheet metal, 3D printing.
- General knowledge of electrical component is appreciated.
- General knowledge of pneumatic system.
